The flip cup pour technique is an acrylic paint technique that uses either the dirty pour or clean pour technique, but the cup where you put your paintings is flipped upside down onto your canvas.
What do you need?
- 1 canvas
- 1 cup for each color you will use
- different acrylic paint colors
- silicone oil
- heat gun
How to mix the colors?
Each color, except for the base, will be mixed with 1 part paint, 2 parts floetrol, 1/2 part water and after you obtain the desired consistency, not too thin, not too think, you can add 3-4 silicone oil drops.
For the base color, you mix 1 part paint, 1 part floetrol, 1 part water; this should be thinner than the other colors, but not like water. In this color you will not add silicone oil !
After you've prepared the colors, you cover the canvas with your base color, entirely, together with the canvas margins also.
In a bigger cup, you start pouring your colors, starting with white, and alternating the colors you want to use.
After you filled in the cup, you flip the cup upside down on the canvas.
Wait for a few seconds to let the paint settle, then lift the cup and start tilting the canvas until you get the desired composition. Depending on your canvas size, you will need different amount of paint.
After this you can use a heat gun to pop air bubbles and help creating the cells.
